Partnership at Eye Level (as long as I’m the one on top)

We believe in partnership.
Deeply.
Unconditionally.
Which is why we define it so clearly.
Partnership means listening.
We listen to every signal.
Every movement.
Every hesitation.
And then we decide what it really meant.
A pinned ear?
Engagement.
A swishing tail?
Expression.
Resistance?
Character.
We value individuality.
As long as it remains predictable.
Trust is the foundation of everything we do.
It is built carefully -
with patience, consistency,
and well-timed pressure.
Pressure, after all, is just another form of communication.
A slightly clearer one.
We pride ourselves on lightness.
On invisible aids.
Barely perceptible signals.
The kind that require metal, leverage,
and years of practice to ignore correctly.
Our hands are soft.
Until they aren’t.
Which, of course, they still are.
Soft enough, at least.
Voluntariness is essential.
Nothing is forced.
Refusal is always an option - until it isn’t.
Clarity creates harmony.
And harmony is what we present-
in the arena, on the course, in the field.
A polished image of mutual understanding.
Carefully trained.
Consistently reinforced.
When it works,
we celebrate connection.
Partnership.
Unity.
When it doesn’t,
we adjust the horse.
We are fair.
We always give them a chance
to make the right decision.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Because consistency produces results.
Late at night, in the stable,
when the equipment is removed
and the conversation pauses,
there stands a being
remarkably free of ambition.
No desire to perform.
No need to understand.
No interest in harmony.
Just hay.
Silence.
No expectations to meet.
We respect that.
Within reason.
Tomorrow, we continue…
building the ‘partnership’
- until it shapes us both.
