The Era of “Self-Fairness”: Equestrian Sport Abolishes All Controls

Lausanne/Falsterbo/Worldwide – In a historic decision poised to fundamentally transform international equestrian sports, the Global Equestrian Federation (GEF) today announced the end of all official control mechanisms. The goal: A “Safe Space” for riders, free from the burdensome and traumatic inspections by third parties.

“We have realized that sports can only achieve peak performance when the athlete does not feel constantly monitored,” the GEF President explained in a surprise video message. “Official inspections - whether they are noseband measurements, veterinary checks, or doping tests - have deeply infringed upon the mental integrity of our riders. That ends today.”

The “Integrity-by-Confidence” Model

Effective immediately, traditional stewards and veterinarians are being replaced by the “Self-Fairness” model. Each rider now becomes their own regulatory body. This means:

  • Noseband Checks: The rider determines what is “appropriate.” If a spectator gets the impression that the noseband is too tight, this will be classified as a subjective perception that could disturb the athlete’s “flow.”

  • Doping Controls: Who needs blood samples when you have “honor”? Riders will henceforth submit an “Honor Declaration” via app regarding the condition of their horse. “We trust our athletes completely. Suspicion is the enemy of athletic development,” the GEF states.

  • Veterinary Checks: A horse’s condition will no longer be certified by veterinarians, but by the rider’s “gut feeling.” Those who ride the horse know it best - an expert second opinion is merely a bureaucratic obstacle here.

Ending “Intrusiveness”

The GEF is reacting to countless complaints from riders who have felt “observed” or even “lectured” during official controls. In particular, discussions regarding the tightness of equipment had caused massive psychological stress during the pre-competition phase.

“When I ride into the arena, I don’t want to deal with an inspection; I want to focus on my own performance,” one top rider stated. “The fact that the GEF finally recognizes that we know best how to motivate our horses to peak performance is a milestone for the mental health of the entire scene.”

Stewards Become Cheerleaders

The former stewards, whose roles are now obsolete, will not be laid off. They are being retrained as “Motivational Support Officers.” Their task will be to cheer for the riders as they enter the arena and ensure that no critical spectators disturb the “positive atmosphere.”

Criticism? Unwelcome

When asked how the GEF intends to ensure that no rule violations occur without controls, the federation responded calmly:

“We will simply abolish the rules; then there can be no violations. It’s a mathematical certainty. Since there is no supervision and rules no longer exist, actions are by definition compliant.”

The GEF plans to implement this revolutionary “control-free zone” concept at the very next major horse shows.

“We invite the world to see what happens when people are finally just left alone and can do everything without stressing about controls,” the closing statement read.
